Silver Standard Bank Ovation Award (2010): At a National Arts Festival ceremony on the 4 July, Festival Director Ismail Mahomed and veteran Arts writer Adrienne Sichel announced BREED as a Silver Standard Bank Ovation Award winner. A newly launched award, it recognises "Artistic innovation, excellence, the exploration of new performance styles and the courage to open new conversations through the arts..." (Cue, June-July 2010). BREED wins alongside productions London Road and Karoo Moose, proving Ubom! to be amongst the best South African theatre has to offer.

Handspring Awards for Puppetry (2010): Ubom! was nominated for three awards at the OUT THE BOX festival and newly established Handspring Puppet Company’s awards. We were Winner of Best Puppet Manipulation award and were nominated for the Best Design & the Best Production awards. It is remarkable that we were the only African company to be nominated in the Best Production category.

Writing Beyond the Fringe (2009): Brink Scholtz (Ubom! resident director) was one of four winners of the newly established Writing Beyond the Fringe competition at the National Arts Festival. She won a residency in Belgium and spent 6 weeks there in March 2010.

SA’s Most Influential Women in Business and Government (2009): Janet Buckland was again put in the running for a major award, competing against the likes of Yvonne Chaka Chaka-Mhinga in the Arts and Culture category. The awards recognise women across South Africa who are helping to transform South Africa's social, economic and political landscape.

Grahamstown Citizen of the Year Award (2008): As the Grocott’s headline states, “Buckland wins again!” Ubom! was yet again thrilled to have an award winning women leading the company. This award was linked more specifically to the Amaphiko Project, but with Ubom! supporting that project we celebrate its achievements with Janet.

Shoprite Checkers/SABC2 Woman of the Year Award (2008): A most auspicious and proud time for Ubom! was having our Artistic Director named overall winner of this great award, after winning in the category of Arts and Culture.

Impumelelo Innovations Gold Award (2008): Janet Buckland and Michael Mati (former Company Administrator) flew to Cape Town to accept this award. The award recognises innovative work in the fields of poverty reduction and community development.
